At Fitzroy, we are not conducting business as usual but are seeking to redefine the publishing world as it has conventionally been understood. Fitzroy Books began its life as an offshoot or imprint of Regal House Publishing, an innovative, traditional publishing company that empowers and supports writers in ways uncommon in the publishing industry today. While the focus of Regal House is on literary fiction, the founders of Regal House Publishing wanted to offer the same accessibility and services of the parent press to writers of Children’s, Middle Grade, Young Adult, and New Adult fiction. And so Fitzroy was born.
(Oh, and a little postscript: Fitzroy is a patrynomic originating in the eleventh century Norman French. Fitz comes from the Latin filius (son) and precedes the genitive of the father’s forename. Roy is derived from the Old French word rei, meaning king. Therefore, Fitzroy means “king’s son,” and is thus the perfect name for the offspring of Regal House Publishing!)
